On Thursday, 10th April 2014, an Anzac who fell at Gallipoli was honoured by the Victorian Spriti of Anzac Prize winners.
Michael Manoussakis, from Melbourne's Mill Park and a student at Marymede Catholic College, chose to honour the service and life of Private Peter Rados.
Private Peter Rados was one of twelve Anzacs of Hellenic heritage who saw service at Gallipoli.
Born in Athens, peter was a 24 year old cook in Melbourne when he enlisted into the 3rd Battalion, Australian Imperial Force. He was killed at Gallipoli on 19th May 1915 and lies at Ari Burnu Cemetery, near Anzac Cove, along with another 150 of his Australian comrades.
Michael is interested in how the Anzac story connects Greece and Australia - through Lemnos and through the service of a digger from Athens, like Peter Rados. Well done Michael.
