Matron Grace Willson will be honored by Australia Post.
Australia Post will issue a collectors stamp on the hundred year anniversary of Grace Wilson's being awarded the Royal Red Cross medal.
The stamp will feature both the Royal Red Cross medal and a photo of Grace. It will be issued on the 12th of April 2016.
They have also seeking permission from Grace's family to use a letter of Grace's, reproduced in her own hand. This will be used as part of Australia Post's Voices of the Past series. It will be a limited edition of 3000 and only available at major Post Offices.
This important recognition will also bring recognition to the role of Australia's nurses and the Red Cross in the First World War.
Thanks to Rosemary Dwyer of the Wilson family for sharing this information with our Committee.
