The City of Port Phillip will be holding its annual Albert Jacka Memorial Service on Sunday 15th January 2017.
Captain Albert Jacka was Australia's first Victoria Cross recipient and a highly decorated soldier. Importantly for our Lemnos Gallipoli Commemorative Committee, Albert served on Lemnos as part of his participation in the Gallipoli campaign in 1915. The famous photo below shows Albert on Lemnos. To honour Albert and his connection to Lemnos, our Committee will be laying a wreath during this coming service.

Note also that the grave of Nurse Clarice Daley and Sergeant Ernest Lawrence are also in St Kilda Cemetery. Clarice and Ernest both served during the Gallipoli campaign and were famously married on Lemnos during the campaign. To read more about Clarice and Ernest, click here.
Members of our Committee will take the opportunity to visit their graves and pay our respects at the conclusion of the Albert Jacka Service.
