Announcement - Details on the Mudros Armistice Commemorations on Lemnos - 2-4 November 2018

HMS Agamemnon - the British warship on which the Armistice of Mudros was negotiated in October 2018.

The Lemnos Gallipoli Commemorative Committee has now been informed of the events that will take place on Lemnos to commemorate the centenary of the signing of the Armistice of Mudros in 1918.
This will be an exciting and memorable occasion on Lemnos.
It will be the first time that the Armistice of Mudros has been commemorated on the Island where it was signed aboard the HMS Agamemnon anchored in Mudros Bay on 30th October 1918. Coming into effect at noon on 31st October, this Armistice brought to an end the First World War across the Ottoman Empire.

11.30 Presentation and Film at Cultural Centre of Portianou.
17.00 Military Band and Flag-Raising at Port of Myrina
18.30 "Lemnos and the Hellenic Air-force Operations in WW1" Exhibition opening and Presentation at the Warehouse, Myrina

Sunday 4th November 2018 - Moudros
09.45 Church Service - Evangelismos tis Theotokou
11.00 Memorial Service commences East Mudros Military Cemetery
12.00 Speeches, Presentations and Parade - Cultural Centre of Moudros
14.30 "WW1 Arimistice of Moudros" Presentation at the Port of Moudros
15.15 Tour of History and Maritime Tradition Informatiuon Centre
15.30 Wreath laying ceremony at the Australian Pier Memorial, north of Moudros.
Hellenic Navy warships will be present at Port of Moudros and air demonstration by Hellenic Air-force.

Museums
During the morning and afternoon, the following museums and cultural centres will be open for visitors:

• Moudros Cultural Centre
• Mudros Historical and Maritime Tradition Information Centre
• Portianou Cultural Centre
• Portianou Folklore Museum
• Archaeological Museum of Myrina
